Upgrade Python from version 2 to 3 on windows 10

In this tutorial, i will cover how to uninstall Python 2, install Python 3 and configure Python interpreter.

Step # 1 – Uninstall Python 2.7 or older versions

  • Go to control panel
  • Select python version to be uninstalled
  • Click uninstall
  • Python version will be uninstalled successfully

Step#2 – Install Python 3

Python latest version is 3.7.3 as of 04/11/2019

Step 3 – configure Python interpreter

  • Open Pycharm IDE
  • Go to File –> Click Settings
  • Select Project Interpreter under Projects
  • Select Show all from Project interpreter drop down if don’t see the installed python version.
  • Click + symbol on Project interpreter window
  • Select ‘System Interpreter‘ in Add python interpreter window and interpreter drop down will display the desired version of Python and select the version.
  • Click Ok, you’re all set to use Python latest version
